How It Works

Our Design-Build Remodeling Process

Every Santa Monica remodel we take on runs the same way from start to finish: one team, one written scope, and a fixed order you can see coming. Below is exactly how a kitchen, bath or whole-home project moves from your first call to the final walkthrough — and the points where you sign off before anything moves ahead.

How It Works

How a Santa Monica Remodel Comes Together

  1. 1

    Submit an inquiry or call

Tell us what you're looking to have built — even a rough idea is enough to begin.

  2. 2

    We schedule an in-home visit

We walk the space, measure, and listen to what the finished room needs to do.

  3. 3

We design it with the architect

Plans and a 3D design you approve before a single cabinet is ordered.

  4. 4

    Permit and planning approval

We carry the plans through plan check for your exact address.

  5. 5

    We begin the build

Protection and demolition, rough-in and inspections, then the finishes.

  6. 6

Phased payments as milestones are met

You pay in stages as work is finished and signed off — never all up front.

Step by Step

What Each Step Involves

1
You start

Submit an inquiry or call

Call (424) 384-1771 — the line is answered around the clock — or send the quote form with a rough description of the project. There is no charge and no obligation; that first exchange is only about understanding the room, the house and roughly what you want out of it before a visit is booked.

2
The visit

We schedule an in-home visit

We come to the property, walk the space, take measurements and photographs, and talk through how you want the finished kitchen, bath or addition to work. Anything the age or location of the home will affect — a bearing wall in a 1920s bungalow, a coastal-permit trigger west of Lincoln, a Title 24 requirement — is flagged here rather than discovered once the walls are open.

3
Design

We design it with the architect

We develop the plans and a 3D design with the architect so you can see the layout, the finishes and the flow before anything is committed. The written scope takes shape alongside the drawings, so the plan you sign off on is the plan the crews build — not a sketch that drifts once work starts.

4
Approvals

Permit and planning approval

We submit the drawings and take them through plan check and planning approval — the City of Santa Monica for SaMo addresses, or LADBS for Venice, Brentwood and Pacific Palisades — along with Title 24 and any Coastal Development Permit a beachside parcel needs. The permit is in hand before demolition, not chased after the fact.

5
Construction

We begin the build

With approvals in place, one team runs the job: protecting the occupied parts of the house, demolition, framing and rough-in for plumbing, electrical and mechanical, the inspections that follow, then the finishes — cabinetry, tile, fixtures and lighting — all built to the approved drawings and the written scope.

6
Milestone-based

Phased payments as milestones are met

Payments are tied to milestones as they are completed and signed off, so what you pay always lines up with visible progress on the job. The full schedule is written into the agreement before work begins, and nothing is added quietly to the total at the end.
